It’s that time of year again! Fall is here and Halloween is just around the corner. Here are a couple of books to really put you in the Halloween spirit!
The Cellar, written by Natasha Preston is a mysterious book that is always foreshadowing what will come next. The Cellar is about a sixteen year old girl named Summer and is kidnapped by a man named Colin. Colin has always wanted a family of perfect women, named after perfect flowers. When Summer is taken to his cellar, she is now called Lily. She has to live down there trapped with three other girls: Rose, Poppy, and Violet. Hypnotized by his way of thinking, none are willing to fight with Summer against Colin, a.k.a Clover. But when Violet steps up, things don’t go as plan. Will Summer ever be found?
Another creepy story is called Shadowmaker, written by Joan Lowery Nixon. Katie and her mom move to Texas for a clean start, but trouble seems to be lurking around every corner. In her career as an investigative reporter, Katie’s mom has run afoul of those who don’t appreciate her efforts to bring to light the illegal dumping of certain toxic wastes, and now Katie, missing her city friends and ballet lessons, unwillingly finds herself involved in a puzzle of her own–the disappearance of the only friend she had. Katie has to find a place inside of her to keep going and not to look back.
